Fresh Finish Friday!

This is a quilt top I have been working on for my step daughter Ellie. She is getting ready to go off to school this fall. All grown up and headed off to college. The pattern is an interpretation of Curlicue Crush by Chasing Cottons.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to go with the curves so I made some templates and started playing around with it. The cutting and piecing was slow going with this quilt. The seems hide a lot of sewing and cutting sins. I was compulsively buying purple and grey fabric for months. I wanted to use a different fabric for each swirly. I have a whole bunch of extra grey and purple fabric now. Now I just have to quilt this bad boy up.

The backing is from Connecting Threads and its called Crystalline. They are sold out of a much of this collection which makes me sad cause there are so many prints I wish I would have bought. They still have this in an awesome Midnight Blue Color.

I had trouble finding an area big enough to take a picture of this quilt. I need to figure out a hanging/pulley  system so I can take pictures outside by myself. In the meantime I have tried many locations inside. I made sure the dogs were outside and then blocked off the doorway to take pictures of the quilt. I forgot that I have a furry jerk living in my house.....

and his partner in crime....

Outsmarted by the cats. I accept defeat......

July Blogger BOM - Remixed 9 Patch

Today is the July installment of Blogger BOM. We are almost finished with this journey. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. My apologies for the late post. I have been having a lot of trouble with my laptop.   The presenter today is Nicole of Mama Love Quilts! The block she created is a remixed 9 patch block. As soon as I saw it I thought why didn't I think of that!. Nicole's tutorial is great and it looks like an awesome way to use up some scraps. To see Nicole's tutorial click here.

Nicole's tutorials looks so professional!

As always I am giving away some goodies.....This month the prize is a $20.00 gift card to Connecting Threads. Much like me they are in Columbus and I am impressed that they donate their scraps to charities like My Very Own Blanket. Use this tutorial to use your scraps for good!

To win be a follower and leave a message below on how you use your scraps for good. The winner will be picked on 7/25/13.

WIP....opps I missed Wednesday....

I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm back in Columbus working on charity quilts. I've had my fill of simple patchwork quilts. I need to piece something more exciting. I've been trying to decide which block to do for my upcoming block of the month. I've  been working on killing some scraps from my traveling suitcase of scraps. I've gotta give the TSA something exciting to look at. Scrap jar stars from A little bit biased, tutorial here. I love making these and I can't stop! Before I know it I see that it's after midnight! Don't be jealous of the wild and crazy life I live out on the road with all night sewing benders.

Whilst back on the home front last week I got to spend some time with the people and animals I love. I've decided that whenever I have a bad day I need to try to be as happy as the critters below.
 Tennis Ball - Check
Baby Pool - Check
If you could throw some steak strips in here I would never leave

I can't explain the ferocity at which my bunny Wilfred went at this apple
Corn husks were a bust, and he doesn't like carrots....
He is accepting donations of fruits and fruit loops presently....
And as always life is better with a big hunk of greens...
(I want to love salad that much!)

Happy Almost Friday!!!
