Blogger BOM Finale - Nine Of Diamonds

Today is the finally installment of Blogger BOM. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. It is finally my turn to share my block. I have been trying to decide what block I wanted to share. I went through several options. Originally I wanted to share a vintage blocked called the Polaris Star. In the end I couldn't make it work. I ended up coming up with this block which I believe is original. If it is a block I am not familiar with I would love to know what its called. I have been calling this block "Niine of Diamonds"

To start you need to cut your fabrics

In this example I used the following fabrics

(A) Pink Flower Print In 9 Patch                    (1) 2.5" x 8"       (1) 2.5" x 2.5"

(B) Multi Colored Floral Print in 9 Patch        (2) 2.5" x 8"

(C) Blue Border for 9 Patch                           (1) 1.5" x WOF

(D) Dark Pink Corner Pieces                         (2) 2.5" X 2.5"

(E) Grey and White Print Boarder                  (1) 2.0" X WOF

The fabric for this block is quick to cut and comes together easily. To start take one 8" strip of fabric (A) and (B) and sew together.

Square up the end of the joined pieces and cut off 2.5"

Set aside the 2.5" piece you cut off. Sew the second 8" strip of fabric (B) onto the remaining piece on the other side of fabric (A)

Cut two 2.5" strips from the sewn strips.

Sew the 2.5" square of fabric (A) to the 2 piece unit from step two and assemble the 9 patch block as shown below.

Add fabric (c) to two sides of the 9 patch block. Trim the fabric flush with the 9 patch.

Sew fabric (C) to the remaining two sides of the 9 patch and trim flush to the 9 patch. Set the 9 patch unit aside.

Sew one piece of fabric (E) to each of fabric square (D). Trim flush to the squares.

Sew a piece of fabric (E) to the remaining side of the above units. You will end up with fabric square (D) surrounded by fabric (E)

Cut these units on the diagonal to end up with 4 corner pieces.

Sew the corner pieces on using the seems on the blue surround as a guide.

Trim down the corners of the blue surround.

Add the remaining 2 corner units and trim down the block to 9.5" square.

I love how they look all together!!! I think this would make a great quilt with a common fabric for (C) to tie the quilt together.

As usual there is a prize to be won. I had to go to one of my favorite fabric stores in Columbus to buy these fabrics. I cheated on my fabric diet a wee bit.... The lucky winner will get a one yard cut of each of these prints from Moda, Central Park by Kate Spain.

July Blogger BOM - Remixed 9 Patch

Today is the July installment of Blogger BOM. We are almost finished with this journey. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. My apologies for the late post. I have been having a lot of trouble with my laptop.   The presenter today is Nicole of Mama Love Quilts! The block she created is a remixed 9 patch block. As soon as I saw it I thought why didn't I think of that!. Nicole's tutorial is great and it looks like an awesome way to use up some scraps. To see Nicole's tutorial click here.

Just a reminder that we only have 2 months of Bloggers BOM left. July is Nicole from Mama Love Quilts and August is lil ole me. I am still struggling to pick which block I want to do. I am almost caught up on my blocks. I was hoping to get some sewing done this weekend but I need to go and buy a car since my husband got the bright idea to sell mine. Good times in the house of Peach. 

I've been strong on my fabric diet. Serious temptation though as the National Quilting Association show starts today in Columbus.....Guess where I am working this week???  And we got a surprize overpayment check from our escrow account yesterday.......

Must be a responsible adult and buy a car not a long arm.....

I'm trying to be strong but I feel like the universe is poking me with a stick......

Blogger BOM June - Summer already????

Today is the June installment of Blogger BOM. You may be saying to yourself this year just started how did we get to June! I feel the same way, 2013 is flying by. I am way behind on my blocks but vow to catch up this weekend and share the pretties with you soon.  The presenter today is Erin of Billy Button Design! The block she created is nameless but I love it! So many great fabrics with multiple cute fussy cut choices in it, Now you can enjoy them all in one block. May Blogger BOM - Birthday Edition

Today is the May installment of Blogger BOM. ( It's my birthday and I'll quilt if I want to edition!) The presenter today is Felicity of Felicity Quilts! The block she created is called "Through the Window". This is an original creation and looks great alone or in a group. Felicity created a great tutorial here on her blog.

I'm a bit behind on my blocks but this looks like a great motivator to get back on track. I can't belive that we only have three months left. This has really flown by! Here is a peek at what these blocks look like all together from Felicity.

As always there is a great prize you can enter to win this go round. As previously hinted to it is my birthday this month. My sweetie bought me a couple mystery boxes from the fat quarter shop. They are here in town at the post office and I will have them today. Also I finally finished reclaiming the office from my fabric stash and compiling all my scrap-a-doodles into one big tub.
