In like a lion, out like a lamb.....

I didn't post much of anything this month. In my defense I have been busy. We went on vacation to St. Louis, Memphis, and Nashville. We were able to do all sorts of touristy things like go into the St. Louis arch. (So scary!!!). It so high and so dumb. Save your ten dollars, there is no need to go to the top. Just a terrifying 4 minutes in a confined space. I would say I sound old but my mother doesn't whine about stuff like this. Other than being scared of heights St. Louis was so awesome, we may have to move there some day.

From St. Louis we headed south to Memphis. We enjoyed Memphis less but did go see Graceland and eat lots of BBQ.

We finished up our trip in Nashville and headed to the Grand Ole Opry for my husbands birthday. By this point in the trip I guess I stopped feeling like a tourist and didn't take any pictures. So I will have to use stock footage to complete the photo journey.

We saw lots of entertainers at the Opry including Trisha Yearwood who is our favorite! This inspired my husband to listen to blue grass music for the 13 hours we were in the car taking our sweet time getting home. After a week away I was very glad to sleep in my own bed. Travel sure makes you realize home is where the heart is.

While my husband was driving I was able to do some hand sewing and make some flowers for Eleni. More details can be found here. I have been following Rachel's blog for sometime and have been participating in do.good.stitches for almost a year, My thoughts go out to her family and many prayers for little Eleni.

On a personal note Aaron and I are expecting a baby of our own in August. They believe it to be a girl. She says hello! I have been organizing my craft room and sewing like crazy. I will post pictures of baby quilts soon.

Finally my April blocks for the Nurture circle of do.good.stitches. The instructions were here. We has pretty free rein which was a blessing and a curse. I find that I will take so much longer to decide what I want to do. In the end I came up with these two diamond blocks.

I feel like the first block ended up looking a little like corn in the pictures.

This one I kept fiddling with to the point of madness and it is not how I imagined it in my mind but fits what was asked for. They will be going in the mail in the morning before they get lost in my craft room.

The stars at night are big and bright....

Revisiting a long time WIP that I made some headway on this week. In cleaning and sorting fabrics I found a piece to finish a star that I was short on. I could not for the life of me remember where or when I bought the fabric and I was one tiny piece short. I had about given up when I found an old orphan block that had the missing fabric. Happy as a clam!!!! I started running out of quilt Pati's pieces so I had to start joining some stars.

On the completed front I finished up the quilt for my step daughter Michelle. I have been trying to get a decent picture of the quilt but the weather has not been cooperating. My husband and I rigged up an interior quilt hanging rod for pictures.

This quilt goes with this pillow case. One more WIP scratched off the list!

Finish it up Friday - EPP for the littlest Peach

This is a quilt I started quite some time ago, might have been last year. When I found I was pregnant this spring I started working on it for the new baby. After I lost the baby I packed it up and shoved it in a closet. I took it out and finished up the top last night. I will add the fabric corners to square it off this weekend. I am not sure what I am going to do with it, maybe to charity, maybe for a future kiddo if we are blessed again...for the time being it is in memory of Georgia Peach our littlest Peach

Works long in progress

I pulled out some old WIP's. I will go into more detail later as to why they were shelved. One reason is that my job has me driving more and flying less. A lot of time I spent on planes and in airports were consumed with working on these hand projects. I am breaking them out again in the hopes of making some progress in my free minutes. Hotels are not designed for quilt photography and perching on a dresser to get a shot will most likely be the reason they find me dead at in a Holiday Inn.
This baby quilt in progress is almost finished. My mother reads a lot about quilts and always tells me that there needs to be a surprise in every quilt. For this quilt it is the white star in the upper corner. Just a couple edge pieces needed to be added to this project. I have the fabric at home to square off the corners and for the backing. But then again we don't need to talk about how much fabric I have at home.
I'm not sure what I am doing with these hexie stars. But I have started a couple and we will see where they end up.
